A mining operation in northern New York is seeking an experienced Mine Health & Safety Director to lead workplace safety programs, regulatory compliance, risk management initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across underground and surface mining operations.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in developing a strong safety culture, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the organization
Monitor and evaluate health and safety performance indicators
Conduct audits of underground and surface operations
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Perform hazard assessments and risk evaluations
Lead incident investigations and identify root causes
Develop corrective actions and improvement plans
Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and documentation
Support management teams with safety initiatives and performance improvements
Supervise health and safety personnel, trainers, and coordinators
Communicate safety information and provide guidance to employees and leadership
Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management
Strong understanding of workplace safety systems and risk management
Experience developing and maintaining safety programs
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Experience in underground mining operations
Mine rescue experience
Experience with mining safety regulations and compliance programs
MSHA certifications
