A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Director (Electrical) to join its growing Cambridge team. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee major multidisciplinary projects, lead client relationships, drive business growth, and shape the future direction of a high-performing engineering team.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, leadership capability, and a passion for delivering innovative building services solutions across complex sectors including science, research, healthcare, and other technically demanding environments.
Lead major multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through delivery
Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders
Support business development activities, proposals, and new project opportunities
Provide leadership and technical direction across the electrical engineering discipline
Oversee project performance, profitability, and resource planning
Represent the organization at client meetings and industry events
Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
Support succession planning and long-term team development
Monitor project pipelines, costs, and operational performance
Maintain high standards of technical quality and service delivery
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition
Extensive experience in electrical engineering and building services design
Significant experience in senior engineering leadership roles
Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
Excellent commercial awareness and project management capabilities
Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams
Strong communication and decision-making skills
Experience leading large multidisciplinary projects
Experience in science, research, healthcare, or mission-critical sectors
Business development and work-winning experience
Experience managing project profitability and resource planning
Strong understanding of complementary engineering disciplines
