Overview

A multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Exeter team and support the delivery of complex building services projects across commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, and public-sector developments.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects while collaborating with electrical, mechanical, sustainability, and architectural professionals. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from concept design through construction delivery while continuing to develop technical expertise and project responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop coordinated and cost-effective electrical engineering designs

• Produce technical calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and schedules

• Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure

• Utilize digital engineering tools to support efficient project delivery

• Deliver smaller projects or defined project work packages with minimal supervision

• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, site visits, and inspections

• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary teams

• Review project requirements and develop compliant engineering solutions

• Support innovation, digital design improvements, and process development initiatives

• Assist with knowledge sharing and support junior engineers where appropriate

• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and technical deliverables

Requirements

Required

• Experience as an Electrical Engineer within building services or a related engineering discipline

• Strong understanding of electrical systems design, including power, lighting, and low-voltage infrastructure

• Experience producing technical calculations, reports, and specifications

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

• Proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery

Preferred

• Experience with Revit and BIM workflows

• Knowledge of Dialux, Relux, Electrical OM, or similar engineering software

• Experience working in multidisciplinary design teams

• Client-facing experience within consultancy or project environments

• Experience supporting junior engineers or graduates
