An established automation and engineering organization is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of advanced industrial automation systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale control system integration projects from concept development through installation, commissioning, and operational support. The successful candidate will contribute to electrical system design, PLC programming, automation architecture, and system optimization across complex industrial environments.
Design and develop complete control systems from concept through implementation
Create electrical schematics, panel designs, and control system documentation
Develop and program PLC and DCS control systems
Design automation architecture including hardware, software, and industrial networks
Perform system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and start-up support
Conduct electrical and system performance analysis
Develop engineering documentation, test plans, and operating procedures
Support hazard analysis and safety-critical control system implementation
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contractors
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
Support vendor management and system integration activities
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of Controls Engineering or Industrial Automation experience
Experience designing automation systems from concept stage
Strong PLC programming experience
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar automation platforms
Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and automation architecture
AutoCAD experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience with industrial networking and distributed I/O systems
Experience with Structured Text programming
Programming experience in C++ or Visual Basic
Functional Safety experience (SIL / PL)
Hazard analysis and safety engineering experience
Experience with complex motion control systems
Experience in highly automated industrial environments
This position combines office-based engineering work with field support activities, including installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at project sites.
Base Salary: $111,000 – $140,000
